Last week I took part in my twelfth ALT conference. This was the last one in which
I will have had any kind of production role (and a minor one at that). Here are links to two talks I gave.
1. Learning Technology – a backward and forward look. This was a somewhat chaotic personal reflection, the first half of which was better prepared than the second. Presentation, with notes. [PDF]. The ALT YouTube channel now has a video of the talk.
2. Learning Technology-based interventions in adult learning: how should priorities be determined? This was a PechaKucha session - 9 slides at 45 second intervals - written with Clive Shepherd, Dick Moore, and Adrian Perry. Presentation. Notes. Abstract.
Lovely... Thanks!

I must commend you on your first talk, which I have just read as unfortunately I could not attend the conference. I think there is a particular nexus with your comment 'the terms of engagement are important' and your last section about the way forward.
There is still too much facile planning for learning and technology and the way forward but I take heart in that now there is a significant rumble of discontent about the lack of deep thought in planning and you have more comment and action from people of the ilk of Downes, Norvig etc.. with the creation of learning ideology hotspots, inducing reflection, discussion and change.
I am attending a planning meeting about the future of education (VISIR, an EU project) next month and I will use the framing of some of your suggestions, if I may, to drive home the importance of cultivating Herbert Simon's view.
